Being the first trip and not knowing what to expect, I’d gone online and pre-booked a site before heading north. At check in, the very helpful young woman pointed out that I’d managed to book for two people. She then asked if I needed access to the camps facilities seeing that the van is self contained. And then subtracted the NZMCA discount. $10 per night for three nights. Cash refund gratefully accepted. I cannot speak highly enough of the reception.
A few pics of the campsite.
I had a job to do in Greta Valley on the way home, so returned via the coast road. It was the first time I’d been on the road since the 2016 Kaikoura earthquakes. It’s been a massive job rebuilding the road and rail, but it is looking brilliant. Supposedly a 406 km trip, but the navigation device thinks it’s funny to make little detours from time to time.
